These civil war has gone on for years and like most wars, the civilians have suffered the most. Supposedly, UN Peacekeepers need the consent of both parties, but that doesn’t make sense when you have wars that are destroying civilian populations There are some wars, especially Israel’s war against Gaza and the war in Sudan that should just be stopped by an outside force such as the UN Peacekeepers. All these countries have made statements to the effect that Israel’s war in Gaza represents a genocide. So why don’t all these countries step in to stop it. Gaza itself represents a defenseless civilian population so that the war is entirely one sided. I haven’t even heard of Hamas launching an attack after their horrendous one on October 7.

No country is prepared to step in and say no to Israel. The Europeans are all concerned about the war in Ukraine. Bad as that is, it does not compare with the carnage in Gaza or Sudan. The US will do nothing but pay lip service to stop the war in Gaza and the West Bank. If all these countries have proclaimed that Palestine is a state, they should be prepared collectively to step in militarily to restrain Israel. Short of that Israel will keep going until Gaza is reduced to rubble and life there is untenable. Any sensible Gazan will get the hell out of that hellhole given half a chance, but no country wants to take them.

The UN Peacekeepers should be beefed up and be prepared to step in to end these never ending wars, especially ones in which the civilians are being devastated. Sudan has been described as facing the world’s worst humanitarian crisis; nearly 25 million people are experiencing extreme hunger. On 7 January 2025, the United States said it had determined that the RSF and allied militias committed genocide in Sudan. So genocide in Sudan; genocide in Gaza. And yet no country or coalition of countries is willing to do anything about it except to issue UN proclamations.
